In plain terms: You are not obligated to answer any question. You can stop at any time. Nothing you share will be used to identify you publicly. We are asking these questions because we want to build something genuinely useful for the diving community — and we can only do that with honest input from real divers.
Core ethical principles
The App research programme is conducted in accordance with the following principles, consistent with widely accepted standards for human subjects research:
Respect for persons
Participants are treated as autonomous individuals capable of making their own decisions about participation. No coercion, no manipulation.
Beneficence
Research is conducted to benefit the diving community — not for commercial profiling, advertising, or any purpose that conflicts with participants' interests.
Non-maleficence
We do not collect data that could cause harm. Sensitive questions (safety incidents) include explicit opt-outs. No one is required to share anything distressing.
Justice
Participants benefit from the research: their input directly shapes the product. The findings are not extracted from the community and used against it.
Voluntary participation
Participation in this survey is entirely voluntary. You were personally invited — but an invitation is not an obligation. You may:
- Decline to answer any individual question without explanation.
- Skip questions that feel too personal or uncomfortable.
- Stop the survey at any point without consequence.
- Complete the survey anonymously without providing your name or email.
There is no compensation for participation, and no penalty for non-participation or partial completion. Your relationship with The App — if you become a user — is entirely independent of whether you completed this survey.
Transparency about purpose
We have told you exactly what this research is for. We are building The App — a platform for dive team formation — and we are conducting this survey to understand whether the problem we are trying to solve is real, and whether our proposed solution would actually be useful.
There are no hidden objectives. No part of this survey is designed to measure anything other than what is stated in each question. There are no trick questions and no agenda beyond honest product research.
The product concept (The App) is revealed partway through the survey in the Solution Validation section. This is standard practice in product research — revealing the concept too early biases earlier answers about problem severity. We disclose this to you now so it is not a surprise.
Sensitive questions and wellbeing
Some questions in this survey ask about safety incidents, close calls, or experiences that may have been stressful or frightening. These questions are relevant because we are building a safety-oriented platform, and understanding real incidents helps us design features that genuinely reduce risk.
However:
- These questions are clearly marked as optional with explicit skip instructions.
- You are never asked to identify yourself, identify other people involved, or provide any information that could be used to locate or contact individuals.
- We ask only for your subjective experience and perspective — not incident reports, not names, not factual reconstructions.
If any question causes distress, please skip it. If you wish to discuss anything raised by the survey, you may contact us at hello@webflavors.ro.
Our specific commitments to you
-
✓No identification without consent Your survey responses will never be published, quoted, or shared in a way that identifies you personally, unless you have explicitly given written consent for attribution.
-
✓Anonymised insights only Any findings shared publicly (e.g. "72% of respondents have cancelled a session due to lack of buddy") will be in aggregated, anonymised form. Individual responses are never shared.
-
✓No commercial use of personal data Your name and email, if provided, will only be used to contact you about The App beta access. They will not be used for any other marketing purpose or shared with any third party.
-
✓Data minimisation We collect only what we need. We do not collect IP addresses, device fingerprints, or any data not described in our Privacy Policy.
-
✓Secure storage Responses are stored on Typeform's GDPR-compliant servers. Access is restricted to The App founding team. No printed copies of raw survey data are created or distributed.
-
✓Deletion on request You may request permanent deletion of your survey response at any time by emailing hello@webflavors.ro. We will confirm deletion within 14 days.
-
✓No follow-up beyond what you opted into If you did not provide your email, you will not be contacted after completing the survey. Period.
Right to withdraw
You may withdraw from this research at any time — before, during, or after completing the survey — without consequence.
- During the survey: Simply close your browser. Incomplete responses are not automatically saved by Typeform unless you have progressed past a certain point. If you are unsure whether your partial response was saved, contact us and we will delete it.
- After completing the survey: Email us at hello@webflavors.ro with "Withdraw my response" in the subject line. Because the survey is anonymous by default, include the approximate date and time of your submission so we can locate your response. We will delete it within 14 days and confirm by email.
Note on anonymity: If you did not provide your name or email, your response is functionally anonymous and cannot be linked back to you after submission. Withdrawal from an anonymous response is possible only within the 12-month retention window and only if you can help us identify your response by date or distinctive content.
